Brian and I go on a 'trail ride' thru the yard....

Brian and I were on our own this weekend, which was great because I had been gone for a few weeks. All Brian wanted to do was take time to ride this weekend.  The rest of what we got done would be bonus.  He has not ridden for years so we were going to take it easy and ride around the yard until he could get the feel back.  We had such a great time!

He rode Nevada, who is much taller than anybody else we have around here.  When Brian put the saddle on he looked towards me with a funny look on his face.  I asked what was up and he said "The stirrups are up to here on me!" and he puts his hand up to his chest!  HA HA!!!!  It's okay baby...you are still almost 6 ft tall!  ;-)

Here are a few pictures of our adventures....

Oh my goodness....is this a sign of things to come?  A buzzard????  (ha ha!)

Brian was wiping the dust off the saddle and Nevada wanted to wear the towel as a fly mask.

Brian wants to know why I gave him a horse with no head!!!!

OH!  He does have a head...and a might fine one at that!  ;-)

I remember when I first got on Tripp....it had been a long time since I had been on a horse and it took a while to get the 'feel' for balance.  We took our time and worked on that....Nevada is real light and sensitive so Brian learned real quick not to 'kick' to make him go, etc.  :-)

They are wandering around the trailer in the yard...look at Tripps ears!  There are so many words I can put to that.

We took a 'trail ride' thru the back yard....

YES!  Self portrait time...sun is so bright!  :-)

We walked over logs....
(we added the longer set of reins to the halter and this made it much easier on Brian and Nevada both)

They boys are saying "Yep, we better get used to this....."

It was hot and muggy....so we hosed both boys off.

Tripp gets hosed off, then says hello to Snoop.  Snoop has been around here for quite a while and he is slowing down...he is an old man before his time.  The hardest part of pet partnerships....

What was the first thing the boys did when we let the go????
Just look at that pretty dirt!  :-)

MUST - GET - DIRTY!

We had a blast and I can't wait until we do it again!  That evening when we went back out, Nevada was following Brian around.  It was cute!

The night before we did some hoof trimming on Nevada and Ace.  We also did some deworming so Ace has a little paste on the side of his mouth.
Here are a couple of pictures of them....

Look, Nevada and Ace are both purdy in blue!

Ace has turned into such a handsome young horse.  He is still small but filling out.  When we are out there he follows us around.

It was a fantastic weekend, and I thank those who served in our military to make weekends like this possible for us.  Freedom.....it means so much in so many ways.....

Until later...Karen and Tripp
